Health certificates for travel

Health certificates are forms certified by a veterinarian that states your pet is healthy for travel. They are required for your pet to get on an airplane or enter another country, and recommended for interstate travel (ie – moving). In order to move your pet to a different country, the paperwork and advanced planning required […]

New Service – Microchip scanning

What if your pet gets lost??? We just purchased a universal, international microchip scanner. With the significant military population in our area, it was important to get a scanner that can read American as well as international microchips, as they are very different. As recently as 10 years ago, only one scanner existed that could […]

March “You can do that?!?”

This month’s featured service is nail trimming! Not because it requires a veterinary degree (it assuredly doesn’t). Not because it saves lives. We’re featuring it because, as of this year, we started including a reasonable nail trim with any exam for no extra cost. Many owners will maintain every other aspect of their pet, except […]

Something only housecall vets experience

Today we realized another feature unique to housecalls – we’re examining a dog in the front room and THE MAILMAN COMES! We had to let him get it out of his system before resuming…sure was fun to watch!

Helping older dogs gain confidence

We are thrilled to be the first (and only) vet in the St. Louis area to offer Woodrow Wear socks. Socks? For dogs? Really? It’s more of a medical device than a fashion statement. Many older dogs that I treat develop arthritis and/or weakness in their legs, particularly their rear legs. While a young strong […]

Help for old dogs who need footing

Our new socks arrived! They are more “medical device” than fashion. Great for weak or older dogs who have trouble on slick floors. They’re thin and soft, so most dogs tolerate them well. I’ll have an article in our newsletter next week with more details. (You ARE getting the newsletter, right?) We even have sample […]

Thanks to Reliance Bank!

Reliance Bank in O’Fallon has been nice enough to feature our business for the next two weeks! We’re giving away the fridge magnets at the table. Also, everyone who makes a transaction gets a coupon for a free bag of Lean Treats with their exam.

Special February Pricing

The arctic temperatures we’ve experienced this winter are history-making. That leads to history-making power bills (and not in a good way!). So, the month of February, we’re offering half-price travel fees! We’ll see how it goes. We’re still a somewhat new practice, so this will be new for all of us. Maybe we’ll make a […]

Heartworm in dogs and cats – very different!

Are all heartworm infections equal? The short answer is: no. The two main species that get heartworm infections that I learned about back in vet school was dogs and….sea lions! It wasn’t until toward the end of my time in vet school that the field was discovering that cats in fact get heartworm too. The […]

Nail trims galore!

As of 2014, ALL physical exams include a nail trim at no extra charge, as long as the pet is somewhat reasonable. (If the pet is very difficult, and the nail trim takes an exceptional amount of time, a charge may be incurred, which we’ll discuss).
