The Mary Poppins Bag

As I was going through the big rolling bag deciding what needs to be ordered, I thought “people probably have no idea how much stuff we schlep around.” (Although one of our clients refers to our large bag on wheels as “the Mary Poppins Bag.”) I think she’s right! I decided to get a photo […]

One step closer to Missouri

Our application for a Missouri LLC was approved. Now we are working with the Missouri Veterinary Medical Board to obtain our permit to practice mobile-y in that state. We hope to be able to cross the Mississippi River in the next month or so!

progress towards missouri

We are entering phase TWO of being approved for housecalls in MO. (For the record, phase 1 was me figuring out what the heck I was getting myself into.) Phase 2 is getting my MO LLC. After that comes the MO veterinary facility permit, even though my car doesn’t feel like much of a “facility.” […]

Benefit for Belleville Area Humane Society

It was a great morning for a 5K for a worthy cause – the Belleville Area Humane Society. Met a lot of cool dogs (oh, and their owners!). You wouldn’t know by the cornfield backdrop in the photo, but there was actually a good crowd! (they all were in front, not behind us!) And big […]

New abbreviated web address

Our website’s name is long. 26 letters. As in, you are practically typing the alphabet, for pete’s sake. So, I just made it easier! www.MEHVC.com will save time, headache, and carpal tunnel cases. Takes you to the same website, just easier! Thank my husband – and his months of “your website’s too long” comments.

5 Common problems most overlooked by cat owners

The past couple weeks I’ve discussed several of these points with my clients, so found this article timely. The most common thing is dental disease. Let’s face it, most cats don’t dig having their mouth examined! http://www.vetstreet.com/dr-marty-becker/5-health-problems-cat-owners-overlook

Big, old, and black dogs rule!

This week is “Adopt a Less-Adoptable Dog” week. That means black dogs, larger dogs, and older dogs, which are usually the last ones to get adopted….and the first to die if they end up in a shelter with space limitations. I lost my old black lab mix a couple months ago. (He was 3-legged even, […]

Missouri – here we come?

We are currently in the process of expanding our radius to travel into Missouri. Dr. Louis has made a lot of friends in St. Louis, and would miss these people and their critters too much – we have to see them! once we are all legit, we’ll make the big announcement!

Pets being rescued WITH people

This story warmed my heart. It used to be if you were forced to evacuate due to a natural disaster, you had to leave your pets behind. I always hated hearing that on the news, and vowed I would take my pets, come hell or, literally, high water. Well, our country has woken up, and […]

Great Forest Park Balloon Race

I’ll be the on-site veterinarian for the Great Forest Park Balloon Race this Saturday! Basically, they wanted someone there for any emergencies, since a lot of people bring their dogs to this event. I’ll be hanging out with the APA and their adoptable dogs, as well as the Purina tent. If you are going, stop […]
